Are you referring to the hearts that appear at the top of the screen for Toad/Peach/Link? If so, those are hard-coded, and (if it's even possible) to edit them you'd have to do something with LunaDLL/LunaLua, and I'm not at all sure what. EDIT : Looks like I've found the problem - it didn't like my filepath, but once I took the .lvl file out of the level folder it started working.
