Re: Metal Slug 1-3 - T-54 Cochlicopoidea

Ooh, it looks like Metal Slug 1 is on sale on the Switch eShop right now. I've read the Switch ports are pretty good, is that accurate?
I'm going to try to see if I can get my brother to do multiplayer with me but if not single player looks super fun regardless. :P

Re: mario 3 ascetic.

one-level video? the tank is an autoscroller with lots of bombs that stick around and explode for points, that's gotta be one of the toughest stages in the game for this challenge.

Oh man, I totally forgot the NES guide gave levels those kinds of descriptors :O

Re: A Thousand Miles Of S@nics & Knockles - Friends Are There When You Need Them, They're Even There When You Don't (1/5

I love this level so much and it's a bit of a shame Team Rose misses out on some really cool parts, but I guess that's kinda just what their mode is.

Re: Yoshi's Archipelago - Last Letter World

I was pretty iffy on this game at the start of the LP but by the end it's a super good SMBX episode. I'm definitely going to have to play it myself sometime, probably waiting a little while first so I forget where some of the hidden flowers are and can re-find them myself :P Are the other games in t...

In contrast I completely forgot about the alligator part until just before it started. And it hasn't been that many years since I last played this game.

it's such a silly segment though

Re: La-Mulana 2 - all the lights combine to form captain planet

The couple of La-Mulana videos that are "raocow decisively solves an abstract puzzle using clues and lore from throughout the game" are some of my absolute favorite raocow content ever, even if they end up being largely standing in one room on the visual end of things :P i hope we'll get to see this...

Re: La-Mulana 2 - get an extra weight to put in your sorrow hole

Man, Alsedana has said he was dying a few times but his death just really hit me in such a weird way. Just like, that unexpected message gave me a similar (albeit significantly lesser) feeling of shock and emptiness that real sudden deaths of people in my life do. And I'm not even the one playing, I...

I am very glad things have gotten much more interesting than I feared at the beginning. Like, this game is simple and mostly vanilla, but the levels are pleasant and have had some lovely quirks. There's a lot of heart here.

Re: A BIG BOUQUET OF CREAM-COLORED ROSES WOOOOO - Heroes - For A Walk In The Park (2/5)

You know, it’s so weird to me that Team Rose is the third team from the left on the menu. I’m assuming that most people, like me, played the teams in left-to-right order, meaning they would have done normal mode and hard mode first before doing easy mode. Like, I just don’t know what the game desig...

I end up saying "Don't get too excited boys, those were the easy ones!" to my brothers for no real reason sometimes when the opportunity presents itself. This has been today's random unimportant anecdote.

Re: A BIG BOUQUET OF CREAM-COLORED ROSES WOOOOO - Heroes - For A Walk In The Park (2/5)

I think the environment designs in this game are very good - it does a great job of capturing the "feel" of the old 2D Sonic games and translating it into a 3D space. I honestly wish more of the 3D Sonics would have gone in this direction. SA2 gets close in some ways, especially with levels like Pu...

Re: Donkey Kong Land 3 - Land of the Lost

Yeah, DKL3's the only of the three I've played, and I think it's a lot of fun, but doesn't really do much to stand out. But it's got pretty dang solid level design from start to end.

Re: Gato Roboto - (If You

raocow saying "it's a good thing I've got my double jump, otherwise this would be impossible" mildly amused me, since there's a pretty neat achievement for beating the Heater Core before getting the double jump by doing missile jumps and stuff. It's a fun challenge.

Re: Wandersong - Con affetto

Yeah, I feel this is a very common choice for "favorite scene in the game". It's mine too. I'm trying to convey some of the reasons and my paragraph keeps getting longer so instead I'll delete that and just say it means a lot to me. It's very heartfelt and exemplifies a lot of the themes of the game...

Re: YUMP2 - 21 - Darkmoon Caverns

Coming from a place of "not knowing anything about the YUMPs' development" it feels to me like YUMP 1's design philosophy was "jokingly bad hack" which different people took in very different ways and we got such a mixed bag but so much creativity. YUMP 2's philosophy feels like it leans more into t...

Yeah, the ending of Chismest stuff struck me weirdly, too. "Unearned" is the perfect way to put it. I could see "it turns out the baron really is a good person and is weirdly willing to shut down his life's work if enough people just asked" working as a conclusion to an arc, but it feels totally pe...
