Re: Crash Bandicoot Trilogy - U R Not Red E

Beating Road to Nowhere and Sunset Vista (and Boulder Dash) in half an hour is pretty darn good, especially for someone with no prior Crash experience.

Also what did the Cortez heads do again? Are they the ones

that give you the keys to extra levels

? I kinda forgot.

Re: Super Mario 63 - 1986 Double-Overtime Flash Game

thing is, that's a starman, not a metal cap we've seen vanish + metal cap before and not only did they stack, but getting one actually refreshed the other's duration 'course i'm still not really sure why it overrides the other stars. thought the solution would be to wait for the vanish cap to expir...

Re: Crash Bandicoot Trilogy - U R Not Red E

Cortex Power might be one of the worst offenders to 100% in this game, with its maze-like structure and large amount of backtracking in a game with no camera control.

It's already bad enough in the remake, which saves your crate progress up to the midpoints.

Re: Super Mario 63 - 1986 Double-Overtime Flash Game

The first half of that Tall Tall Mountain cave is nothing short of a dick move by Runow (the developer) with the Metal Cap overwriting the Vanish Cap. If that's mentioned anywhere in the game, it sure ain't obvious, which is problematic considering Mario 64, which this game copies from heavily, didn...

Re: Crash Bandicoot Trilogy - U R Not Red E

Funny you mention the bonus stage music feels out of place, because it was one of the few tracks replaced in the Japanese version. Personally, I prefer the original one.

Re: Super Mario 63 - A Highly Contotient Flash Game

"Forget about Mario, there's no way he can even get into the Castle."
Mario proceeds to casually enter via the front door.

Confirmed, Bowser is tsundere for Mario and it's just his way of inviting him. Hence the Power Star Shine Sprite just lying outside.

Re: Donkey Kong Country 2 -- Brushing Up

Finally caught up just in time for on of my favorite and least favorite stage, those being Clapper's Cavern and Chain Link Chamber in that order. Clapper's Cavern as a stage is very straightforward, but speedrunning over the ice is more fun than it should be. So while the stage itself is nothing spe...

Re: All The S@nics - 1 (8-Bit) - Bridging The Generation Gap

As someone with a Game Gear but not a Master System it's kinda weird seeing the 8-bit games with a big screen and the changes done to the handheld port.

Also I very much prefer Sonic 1 8-bit over the 16-bit original. For some reason the 16-bit game never really clicked with me.

Re: All the Mega Men One-Shots - On the Right Track

The absolute madman. Doesn't that have a bunch of stuff cut from it for no obvious reason, or am I thinking of something else? Mostly text and voice related stuff, cutting corners where they could, making for a very sloppy localization. Also Duo couldn't be unlocked in the Japanese version, instead ...

Re: All the Mega Men - Everlasting Peace For Now

And so, after nearly 2 years, ATMM comes to an end. It's gonna be weird without the daily Megaman video now, but at least the series ended on a high note with plenty of fun stuff in between. From Elmar Fudd Light, to ASMR Light to speed gear Wily all the way in the last episode. Not to mention raoco...

Re: La-Mulana - Beet the Devil

The fairy disappearing right after being mentioned was perfect comedy timing. But speaking of disappearing, what exactly happened to the chakram? Do they break after a certain amount of uses? Did rao destroy it with the knife? Did it fall into the lava puddle? Been replaying that part of the video, ...

Re: What are some guilty pleasure games you have?????

Donkey Kong 64: Often cited to be among the games that caused the collect-a-thon genre to die, but I can't help but enjoy it. I admit it went overboard with how the collectibles were handled, but the gameplay itself is totally fine, I think. Also it gave us Diddy's jetpack and e-guitar, orange hand...

Re: SUPER - Mario and Detteiu's Trap Tower

Coin Trails Markers Are Always Accurate... except when they aren't.

Though that last section seems kind anticlimatic? The only trap is just the coin on top of the third mine, otherwise it's just a bunch of badly disguised one tile jumps.

Re: SUPER - Mario and Detteiu's Trap Tower

Those kind of sewer levels always make me squirm a little, so I hope it's the only one. I know some people have expressed discomfort with stages that are set inside a body and that's how I felt about this one. Just checked, it's the only one. Hope you're doing okay. Oh, don't worry, luckily those t...

Re: Donkey Kong Country (La-Banana)(The Great Kongo Bongo Civil War)(LP Subforum Thread one thou- er, make that 999)

Finally caught up and... I remember some of K. Rool's attacks being faster? European Europe v1.0 K. Rool's behavior is a bit different: after the cannonballs drop from above, he will immediately throw his crown instead of just standing there for a while. The mine carts have less momentum, making tho...

Re: Donkey Kong Country (GBA) - banana sundae

GBA Maps Those honestly look pretty bad. They have such a brightly saturated look, giving them a pretty cartoony appearance that it clashes with the more realistic in-game graphics. If anything, I'd expect the maps from the Returns series to look like this. And Vine valley isn't even recognizable. ...

Re: LP Subforum Thread one thou- er, make that 999

I completely forgot what Winky's bonus room even looked like, to be honest. But then again, I was actively avoiding those animal tokens later on because they felt more like a punishment.

Also tomorrow

is gonna be the most beautiful stage in the game and sadly also the only one of its kind.

Re: La-Mulana - Crystal and Stone Beetle and Bone

The one bonus that will always stick in my mind is when they hid a bonus stage in another bonus stage. Not only is it completely unmarked, but to get it, you have to "win" the worst possible price, a single banana, which then transforms into a barrel to bust open the wall. Even though the same bonus...

Re: Re: Sticky: [Poll] LP Subforum Thread 999

Shame the sequel looks even worse. That's largely fair enough. I fully agree with what you said on Lightning Lookout. The biggest issue with it is that other than a few cases, like the tree saw level which autoscrolls and toboggan levels which autoscroll but are very fast, most levels are created w...

Re: Re: Sticky: [Poll] LP Subforum Thread 999

World 3 was my personal wall for a long time. I recall the second half of the map being pretty big difficult spike, the water level in particular. But I absolutely adore the aesthetics of the tree top stages. Unlike DKC3 which features my top three least favorite stages from the entire trilogy. Out ...

Re: Re: Sticky: [Poll] LP Subforum Thread 999

DKC2 and 3 take gimmick levels even further and imo are all the better for it. I gotta disagree here. While I don't mind the occasional gimmick level, I do think DKC3 went a bit overboard with them. It's still a very good game, but probably my least favorite of the trilogy. DKC2's gimmick stages ar...
