Re: Super Mario Star Road - raocow plays a 3D game (Back from the dead edition)

I had an idea that might help cut down the frustration with the finicky platforming: what about using the levitate code to save yourself when you fall off a ledge for no reason but when you do so, levitating so high that you take fall damage. It makes the imprecise controls a little less punishing, ...

Re: AM2R

Finished the game today. It took me bit to figure out the final boss (doesn't help that I never played the original). There were a few situations where Samus' near lack of mercy invincibility got me caught in some nasty combos, but this was an incredible game. The developers introduced some really ne...

AM2R

Two days ago, DoctorM64 released Another Metroid 2 Remake. I was going to post a link to the download site, but Nintendo, being its usual lovely self, ordered it taken down. Thankfully, the game was available for a bit before Nintendo got their filthy hands on it. The developers spent years on this ...

Re: Rex Rocket: fin

A third of the galaxy is infested by slime monsters, but Earth's okay so who cares!

Not sure what my overall opinion of this game is. It's definitely beyond my skill level though, that's for sure. I will say, I thought the teleport mechanic was really cool and gave the game some unique personality.

Re: Rex Rocket: launches grenades (duh)

There are so many little things that would've made that segment not hatred incarnate: checkpoints, not having the stupid robots, having spikes care about mercy invincibility...I think just not having spikes be instant death would've made a HUGE difference. And that last room just doesn't know when i...

Re: Rex Rocket: taking a detour through the barack's

Insta-kill spikes are frustrating. Insta-kill spikes whose sides kill you are kind of ridiculous. Insta-kill spikes whose sides kill you and ignore mercy invincibility in a game where you can get knocked into them by recoil are just plain stupid.

Re: Rex Rocket: game got harder

When it comes to electricity, it's actually the current that kills you, not the voltage.

Also, it appears that our protagonist just took out the ship's main power source.

I seriously think there should have been a better indicator that the boss was being healed.

Dammit raocow, that's not a parasite. A parasite benefits at the expense of the host organism. This is clearly a symbiote , thank you very much. Parasites are a type of symbiote. Cappy would be a mutualist...which is also a type of symbiote. I played through the first world, and I like what I'm see...

Re: DT3 - raocow and overcoming Marioverse

I think you could've jumped onto one of the roofs in town. It's the one just left of the fountain, probably less than 1.5x Jerry's height. It might've been possible to use it to get to other rooftops. As whole this game looks really fun so far. I'd probably pick it up myself, but I don't have a part...

It might be a good idea to require pressing the jump button to fall through a platform so you have a choice of whether you want to fall through or just duck.

Re: VIP 2 Revival; DIX: the segment with the familarity

Ugghh. That elevator segment was horrible. It's blandness and emptiness lure you into a sense of complacency, getting you killed, and making you have to repeat the bland, empty segment over and over again. And putting that infinite loop in the first part of the level is just mean.

What is it that makes Mario/Boon die when hitting a wall at high speed? Do you partially clip through it only for the game to suddenly realize you're inside a solid object or something?

Re: ¡Guacamelee! - Yo...soy...¡RESUELTO!

Calaca is not going to mess around anymore; if anything, he might be the toughest boss in the whole game. You would hope so. What's weird is that I think X'tabay is the second hardest and she's the first boss. That was my impression as well. I had very little trouble with any of the other three, bu...

I'm guessing the blue power for Juan is a shoulder charge, right? No, he uses his fist. I always like it when rao plays a game I can follow along with. It's interesting comparing our play styles (and disheartening to see how much I suck in comparison). That being said, this one hasn't been too bad....

Re: Mario Dresses Up - Mario Gives Up 3 (SMW)

Okay, cosplaying as a Ninji because reasons.

If you were by chance serious about it, raocow, I vote no on the Mario coin run. From what I've seen, those tend to make LPers frustrated with otherwise enjoyable games.
