@KobaBeach Oh! That's right, 9 was a thing! Good game. also it's SaGa with a capital g Oh? So it is. I haven't touched that series since... when did the PS2 game come out? >.> ...I seem to recall seeing a post mentioning Dragon Knight, that is gone now? ...odd. Re: Anybody play old-school RPGs

Wizardry, yes! Also, Romancing Saga, Dragon Quest, Chaos World, Lufia 1+2, The Adventures of Hourai High, Anything SMT-related. (screw Persona though, seriously!) ...and Final Fantasy 1-6. Shame the series *ended* at 6 though. I would've liked another game! :P ...I'll play anything old. New RPGs are...

Re: Does raocow play RPGs? aka secret FAQ thread

@Willhart
It was planned, but never implemented into the game.

I also forgot to mention, but there's a 3D Unity re-imagining in the works.
The 3D art-style stays true to the original, and is also unlike anything else I've ever seen!

Re: Does raocow play RPGs? aka secret FAQ thread

recommending him turn based rpgs is quite futile for the most part (outside of things like Space Funeral and OFF) So only simple RpgMaker games? Since Mr. Cow seems to like hand-drawn art assets, I can only suggest the ever-amazing "Wilfred the Hero" by Maladroithim (Brandon Abley) There ...

Wow. I hadn't seen the final boss of this, until now.
Kinda makes the game transition from "quirky game, with a charming artstyle" to "train-wreck", rather quickly. Oh well.

Oh hey, this. I watched NakaTeleeli's "Let's Try" of this a few weeks ago. First, some advice. Visit the Dragon's home regularly between completing stages, the penalty for dying, is that you lose the gold you had on you. I think . (It may be completely possible that I'm remembering this wr...

Re: Super Meat Boy - weaponscape

On the subject of "save-states": There are actually quite a large number of applications available to save the state of a game in a Windows environment, that can be easily loaded back into it's original state. (Though, most require permission shenanigans on a modern system.) They DO exist ...

Re: Super Meat Boy - noseless face sows trial and reaps error

Something about projectile trajectory. Because rotating a standard 8-directional spread-shot 23 degrees is so well though out! Please! Early bullet-hell games on the PC-88 were doing this, likely before the developers were born ! Please don't give indie devs credit, where it's undeserved, mo...

Re: Library of the Might - Castlevania SoN (PSP version) Blind

Actually, raocow--

That "lettuce" enemy in the library makes sense once you know what it is.
That enemy is an "Une", which is a mould-like weed that seeks to assimilate flesh, living and dead.

Re: Demo(nia) Rpg thing (aka RM2003T)

Also, there will be more characters, but most likely without the same mechanics as Demo and Iris. As long as I can say, there will be Garish, and that Tasa guy (from blog, Iris homeroom teacher, in game he is, of course, no more her teacher, as it takes place after iris finished school). I hope to ...

Progress on some of the sprites. Working the graveyard shift makes my computer hours weird! http://i.imgur.com/w4RJz6n.png As you can see, I redesigned the Goopa shells, to be not turtle-like. I've always thought it would be a silly idea, if Goopas were secretly crustaceans, and used the shells of o...

Dear Talkhaus: Superb Demo Sisters?

After having a look at Superb Demo Sisters, I was impressed by the controlled level progression, and the general idea behind the project. However, graphically, it seemed to be missing... something. I couldn't quite put my finger on it. After some pondering, and getting into a NES graphics kick from ...

Actually, a Demo RPG, with a battle mechanic based around outsmarting your enemies, in a FF6-style battle, would be VERY interesting! :O

I am not much of an artist, but I drew this, as a potential box-art thing, to celebrate getting my meta-tile data done. It was painful, but will make maps easier to produce.

Re: NES Homebrew - Cat Quest

Ooh, it must be really tempting to expand that space! Eh... Not really. I've devised a compression routine for the map data, that allows me to store around 8-10 screens of map data per 1KB. This game will only have five dungeons, and a world about half the size of Zelda 1. (Though I am mapping an &...

Hmm... I worked on the layout for an item menu, today. Damn! You gotta respect the programmers who managed sprite-object based menus back in the day. This was painful, keeping 8 sprites per scan-line! (Horizontal alignment, for you non-coders.) 59 8x8 sprites here, just shy of the limit of 64. :shoc...

So what exactly are you doing here? Are you shooting for a straight up full Zelda clone game or is this just mucking about and testing things? The idea is indeed to create a full-on Zelda clone.
