Re: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga

Shadow Hearts and its sequels (Shadow Hearts: Covenant and Shadow Hearts: From the New World), all PS2 games, have turn-based combat where every player action in battle requires timed button presses on the "Judgment Ring." Their prequel, Koudelka (PS1), has turn-based combat play out on a small tact...

Re: VIP 5 2019 - Like funny cat pictures to those bored at work

Funnily enough, at the same time he played a game called Rex Rocket, i only watched a single part, and it was the same thing, it was raocow dieing and complaining all the time. that's not a reflection on raocow, that's a reflection on rex rocket EDIT wait that was just two years ago ?! Why does it ...

Re: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - World Of Illusion

faxanadu would be amazing actually i want this....... I enjoy Faxanadu too, but I don't know how to answer the question "why should raocow play such an old and janky metroidvania-with-light-RPG-elements when there are so many more recent and less janky options in that SotN-style category" - which I...

not specifically about MLSS, but rather a question about the adjacent topic of future potential raocow RPG play(s) if raocow were to one day play a touhou RPG, what would folks recommend? i ask with no knowledge of touhou RPGs out there other than "i assume they exist" and with no particular strong ...

re: level names

Is the umbrella level intended to evoke Knytt Stories? If so I approve.

XXI is I believe a reference to the Tarot card "The World."

I think I explained it earlier but it started because of the "Attention X" threads that were popular when Starfox started, and it just kind of snowballed from there.
I echo Kilgamayan. Excellent choices throughout.

Re: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - TSRP

Question for those very familiar with this game, coming from someone (me) in the camp of "played it through once and beat it years ago but barely remembers any of the specifics": Is grinding actually needed in this game? I vaguely recall just moving through the game straight through without stopping...

Re: JUMP mean(U(0,1)) - Spring cleaning? Wonderful. Just wonderful.

Coming in late on this, but just wanted to note that I thought the final Bowser boss looked like a lot of fun. Yes, I am coming at this from the perspective of a middling Touhou player (by which I mean "I usually do well on Normal and mostly still get stomped on Hard").

Re: Star Fox (SNES) - ATTENTION ALL PLANETS OF THE SOLAR FEDERATION

I never owned a Star Fox game. I remember renting this once, and recall a final boss fight, but have no idea if I actually "completed" the game. Looking forward to this.

(also I wholeheartedly approve of the thread title)

Re: La-Mulana - Wishbringer

I remember the blue miniboss that guarded the Feather on the Surface being there as well, filling that big gap in the back of the group. Maybe he's there if you 100%? Argus the Bargus appears if your completion time is under 20 hours. During the ending, you will always see Lemeza, Xelpud, Mulbruk, ...

Re: La-Mulana - Wishbringer

Congratulations, raocow. Supreme performance throughout and a hard-fought, well-deserved victory. For those curious about the thread title theme, it's explained in the spoiler block. Every title is a work of interactive fiction, or "text adventures" in old-school parlance. If you've heard of Zork or...

Re: La-Mulana - Leather Goddesses of Phobos

So is there any way for raocow to wear off this baby suit for Finale? Because right now Lameza looks like an idiot and this will make facing the Mother very anticlimactic. If there is no way, could raocow just reload a save from before beating Hell Temple. I would prefer to watch epic Finale, not a...

Re: La-Mulana - Leather Goddesses of Phobos

In the original, the enormous Naramura slime monster (literally called "THE BOSS") didn't have its own musical theme. For the remake, they used a track that had been composed, but not used, for the actual final boss. I particularly enjoy the parts at 0:47 and 1:40. "THE BOSS" (theme for THE BOSS) F8...

Congratulations, raocow for beating Hell Temple, replacing your fairy armor with a swimsuit, scaring Mulbruk away, and making Xelpud feel awkward. I just had a cold realization: I don't think raocow saw any of Mulbruk's dialogue regarding the escape. I think we can safely assume he'll have to defeat Mother at least twice, likely several times.

He saw a relevant clue in the Dimensional Corridor.

Re: La-Mulana - Masquerade Ball

I don't know why raocow calls that green winged creature he has to destroy with a chakram a horse. It's clearly a dinosaur nyoro~n Even though I always think of it as a "fireball horse," according to the Vita version bestiary it's actually a demon in the form of a winged wolf. https://en.wikipedia....
