Re: Donkey Kong Country 2 -- House of Evolution

:pal: Rickety Race :pal: I'm wondering what the point was of having Squawks crates instead of transformation barrels. You can't manually hop off Squawks (because the bird is required) and getting hit makes you lose a kong rather than the bird. When you ride him all it does is make your hitbox bigge...

Paragraph wrote: That's not quite what I meant with Bramble Scramble being a huge difficulty spike (heh), but raocow died enough "normally" to the Squawks section to validate me as well so all's good.

Re: Donkey Kong Country 2 -- 200 Yen

I think he was holding forward because I tried without it and the kongs just stop moving at all once the coaster disconnects. I always found the jumping off cart mechanic to be kind of odd; when you jump, even if you're not trying to, you move in parallel with the vehicle - until it despawns. The c...

Re: Donkey Kong Country 2 -- Saitama

I never thought about it until now, but the whole scared of the boss thing is probably a reference to Battletoads. https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/282010852842799114/611679566838235169/btscared.jpg https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/282010852842799114/611681010936971265/snes9x_2019-08-15_...

Re: Henry Hatsworth - Ladies and gentlemen, kindly remove your culottes

raocow's learned to save money, hooray! :pal: So, a hat, shoes, pants, and a... pipe? That seems like kind of an odd combination. Is the master piece a bow tie? That'd make sense to me but I have no idea! Kind of neat that the entire world here is Zebraspace The bow tie is a reflector, calling it.

Re: Henry Hatsworth - Ladies and gentlemen, kindly remove your pipes

Wow, with how involved that little platform ride was, I was expecting it to

lead to a secret exit

or something.
The money was nice, but dang dude, the game's really starting to show its fangs now!

Re: Donkey Kong Country 2 -- One Punch

Hmm, I just tested out the wooden barrel in DKC1 and it hits through multiple enemies there too. I previously thought that wooden barrels break after one hit with enemy but roll on the ground, whereas vine (and DK) barrels break after one impact whether it hits an enemy or the ground. That's the ex...

Re: Donkey Kong Country 2 -- One Punch

A few folks have been doing restorations of the DKC series soundtracks by finding and implementing the original samples used to create the music before being put on console. It's a really cool project. These are essentially what the songs would sound like before being programmed into the game's soun...

Re: Henry Hatsworth - Ladies and gentlemen, kindly remove your pantaloons

Seriously, the music in this game is great! Along with pretty much everything else so far, it's a shame I've pretty much heard nothing about it.

hey rao don't feel bad i had infinite trouble with this boss as a kid too the good future music does not fit at all here though lol. probably one of the US tracks i just outright don't care for I'm the exact opposite, I think Good Future US sounds perfect for the race, while Good Future Japan sound...

Re: VIP 5 2019 - Like nostalgia to old people (read 25+) bored of current trends

I’m one of those weirdos who thinks SMW is a bit too slippery, and thinks SMB 3 is tight.

This is despite having played a lot more SMW.

These drop in the original game too, but you need to steal them or have the GBHSP (weird abbreviation...)

Re: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - Abducted Toad

Also Casual Coral might be the best armor in the game but it's not worth becoming a surfing master over. 38 seconds is ridiculously tight, so tight I'm pretty sure they raised the time limit for the remake. Downside is that Casual Coral isn't nearly as good in the remake, which sadly makes it kinda...

Re: All The S@nics - CD - ...The Problem's Chronic!

As others have expressed already, I'm impressed that raocow managed to go back to the past instead of the future,
and very amused that upon seeing a future sign, thought "oh no, don't wanna break stuff".

Re: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - The Variety Of Chance

Saying this now since raocow definitely won't go back for them, but there's two very well hidden secrets you can uncover in Joke's End for a whole bunch of Hoo Beans Basically, that barrel that raocow never used does in fact have a use, and there's also another use for the water fountain. And if you...

Re: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - Apocalypse of Foroze

And the discussion regarding how Piranha Bean drops only one of two items reminded me of something I was wondering about: Does Swing Bros. give you items beyond what you would've gotten anyway? When I played it felt as if it simply gave you early the item that would've been dropped at the end of th...

Re: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - Drama Mistery

Piranha Bean drops one of two items, the Piranha Swing or Piranha Suit, depending on the method by which you defeat it. But there's no way to get both; you can only get one or the other, meaning it's impossible to collect every item in the game. They fixed it in the remake, so it's definitely a mis...

To think that the thing that would prevent 100% completion is the choice between a swing set and a suit made of plant tissue.

Re: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - Bowser's Last Stand

The japanese version made the Harhall pants give +100 hp, which is as good as it sounds. It’s actually pretty fun to have random gravity, keeps you on your toes. Also, can I just say that I love the mini game music here, easily my favourite rendition of the SMW main theme. https://youtu.be/INczjUmwdiQ

Re: All The S@nics - 2 - I Could Go Super Sonic...

That death at 4 minutes in was really strange, it didn't fade out right away, and since the stage wraps around vertically, we got to see turbo speed sonic's corpse. I'm guessing it's something to do with dying right when you got sprung by the pillar. *Edit* Happened again at 4:54, is this stage alwa...

Re: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - VIP 5

I'd rather watch him destroy the world with fancy acrobatics, than simple jumps and hammer swings. I want SPECTACLE, not just sheer power. Maybe a good compromise would be to take the Mush badge off for boss battles. I'm legitimately worried raocow will kill bosses too quickly, and we miss 75% of w...

To be fair, you're not gonna be even close to maxing out your mushrooms without grinding, plus you can just max out all your stats with bean drinks too. Re: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - EVW

Popple/Rookie Round Two, interestingly enough, is when the "Rookie" remembers he can shoot fire in the original. The remake actually shows this off on the first fight, when he remembers something vague about hating the two brothers. The remake fight, while it amps up the difficulty slightly, doesn'...
