Re: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - World Of Illusion

Regarding your thoughts in the video description, raocow: I think you were absolutely right so far to keep the enemy encounters in, because of many reasons that are very specific to this game: - they're pretty varied in and of themselves, for example having one more enemy of a certain variant means ...

Re: chico virtual wario tierra

Why don't you just turn off the console once you're done playing? Many GBA RPGs know that they're on a "commute or bathroom break" handheld, so they have save anywhere, quicksave or other features for that.

Re: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - Rob-Omb's Quest

Would there be any chance that the imperfect emulation is making the minigame clock run faster for some reason? I remember having this in Donkey Kong 64, making a lot of timed challenges impossible with the wrong emulator. This minigame just sucks, like all minigames in RPGs do without exception Ye...

Re: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - Super Challenge World

"This one game in the series had a Hard Mode which I enjoyed and a later game did not, that's a bit sad" is not getting mad and being an elitist, come on.

I absolutely see where you're coming from re: accessibility and "hardcore gamer" entitlement, but this is absolutely not what is happening here.

Re: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - Kamek's Revenge

Everyone's already given the helpful advice, so I'll just comment that I find it amusing how raocow asks aloud to himself several times with such confusion in his voice 'Do you just not do anything?' to the spike balls that go over your head. Like, he makes it sound like such an unbelievable and al...

Re: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - Super Mario Infinity: Mystery of the Magic Wand

I think a friend in school showed me this. Are they the ones who made a boss where every square in it's Life Meter represented 1 million HP? You're probably thinking of Final Fantasy 12's Yiazmat. He does, in fact, have 50 x 1 Million HP and a little change. Final Fantasy games have tried getting o...

Re: All The S@nics - 1 (8-Bit) - Bridging The Generation Gap

You could always try to give yourself the chance to keep things consistent by recording the entire Zone at once, then if it is a 30 minute video, you chop it up in two/three. You've done that before for recording sessions that went overboard with "one more level", after all. Of course, if you've bee...

Re: All The S@nics - 1 (8-Bit) - Bridging The Generation Gap

There was a point about a decade ago I figured I'd finally get around to playing the original Sonic games cause I'd heard they're good, so I bought Sonic 1-3 and & Knuckles on Wii VC, but I guess I wasn't informed enough about how these games were released and I bought this version of Sonic 1 and t...

Re: All The S@nics - 1 - Dusting Doilies Since 1991

If the final climb wasn't such a weird difficulty cliff out of nowhere, I'd be completely at peace with Labyrinth Zone. I think it introduces "flashy speed section" (with special sprites just for it!) mixed with "slow burn platforming" quite well. Especially because you rarely have to JUST wait for ...

Re: All The S@nics - 1 - Dusting Doilies Since 1991

I've always really liked Marble Zone when I played it back then, for me the "fast zone followed by slow zone" works perfectly. Of course, I've always been more a fan of precision rather than speed platforming, so that played to my preferences as well. Though the clear distinctions drawn by "Mario vs...

Re: All The Sanics - 1 - Dusting Doilies Since 1991

Fucking around in the levels and trying to find small secrets hidden behind momentum mastery is the best part of Sonic games to me. I do enjoy speed, but "press jump at the exact right moment to get good shit" is what really makes the speed shine for me, and I've also never minded just pure platform...

Re: Star Fox (SNES) - ATTENTION ALL PLANETS OF THE SOLAR FEDERATION

Yes. The Super FX chip (there was also a FX2) allowed actual 3d polygons on the SNES. The chip was built into specific late SNES cartridges. The fact that you could slap extra stuff into a cartridge to boost the console is super cool. It's not necessary any more with all the bells and whistles you ...

Re: All the Mega Men - Everlasting Peace For Now

"Only speedrunner replay levels to learn their layouts" is a pretty hot take. I don't think I even have to explain how incredibly wrong this is in any detail considering we just watched two years of a series that to this day has always given you only two extra lives to learn a stage, expecting you t...

Re: Mega Man 11 - Gearing Up for the Finale

I bought MM11 in the middle of raocow LPing it (because it went on sale), and was surprised that I could just blow through it within like three days and catch up to his videos before the end. Surprised and quite happy! Both because I didn't miss the finale, and because it didn't give me a hard time....

Re: JUMP 1.(0)/2.(0) - Half a jump is still a jump

The reaction at the end has nothing to do with silver; it's what happens when you put zinc (Zn) into sodium hydroxide (NaOH). The zinc loses electrons and gives them to the water/hydroxide, forming hydrogen and becoming a zincate (ZnO22-).

but what does it mean

Wait, there's a GBC port that's a distinct thing from Land? What the hell I never heard about this in my life Didn't know this either, and I LP'd Land. By the way, Donkey Kong Land is amazing, apart from having terrible graphics. It is a completely original game that has nothing to do with DKC's le...

Re: Mega Man 10 - The Long Goodbye

Good LORD did you cream Blade Man fast. I have the most insane trouble with him because I just could not figure out how to even approach dodging his stuff yet, and there you are, doing it effortlessly on the second try.

Never claim you're bad at bosses again, raocow!
