Re: La-Mulana 2 - a way to get more doors to door more
18:07 in the video today is my friend's kickstarter skeleton! It also contains a reference that nobody's ever gotten to this day, because Nigoro took it upon themselves to editorialize it, presumably due to containing 'broken english'. What we got: "When you stop to think about it, Heaven's jus...

Re: test.smc.letsplay
Grabbing an item while on Yoshi has something to do with sprite slot magic, whether it's possible or not depends on which sprite slots the item and Yoshi are in (the same sort of stuff that determines whether thwomps and thwimps are shell-killable). I'd say raocow was a bit lucky he was able to do t...

Re: Psychonauts - New Fish City Sleep Terror
Oh, and I don't think anyone has said this, but the "Rank Up" abilities like Pyrokinesis and Telekinesis are considered "extra" abilities that the game never forces you to actually have for level completion/boss fights, only the ones granted by the plot/story. I'm not 100% sure,...

Re: Psychonauts - War Driven Narcolepsy
There is actually a super duper secret extra rank that brings you up to 101% completion, which does absolutely nothing (except a Steam achievement in the re-release). That said, it does give you a buffer zone where you can miss a few figments here and there and still reach rank 100, which is all you...

Re: Dust: An Elysian Tail - The Adventures of Sasuke and his Anime Figure Collection
I sure hope raocow actually sells his last two materials to the shop so he doesn't ruin his 100% completion with something so minor that probably doesn't even add to completion percentage but it bugs me every time he shops :( :( :(

Re: Dust: An Elysian Tail - Yes, the game's name is a pun
This game can definitely be dialogue-heavy at times, and the narrative is a bit ehh at times, but I had a blast playing regardless just because of how cool the gameplay is. There are even a couple of sequence break techniques for people looking to add replay value, despite the game normally being ve...

Re: Super Mario Star Road - raocow plays a 3D game (Back from the dead edition)
I'm in the camp that would like to see just beating the game without savestates. It's definitely possible seeing how fast raocow is improving - if there are entirely unreasonable stars later on, it's totally possible to skip them and find easier stars to get and make progress. If raocow insists on g...

Re: Kirby's Adventure - More pink than pink
The HAL room can only be reached if the warp star doesn't spawn due to sprite limitations - the easiest way to do so is to get Cutter and throw three at once while you scroll to where the warp star should be. If there's a lot going on in the screen, it's possible to reach it by accident, but I've ne...

Re: SMWCX - Phantasm
The mainstream Mario games hit a good balance in my opinion re: filters vs freedom. SMW and SMB3 both had ridiculously broken powerups, and never filtered anything (with the exception of Yoshi in castles/ghost houses) but instead forced you to play certain levels more or less legit by use of clever ...

Re: SMWCX - Syrup Castle
I'm pretty sure it's fixed in this version? That said, the game was made on and plays in 1.3, so it was still taking a risk of some kind.

Re: the 'raocow has a patreon' thread
If Kirby and the Amazing Mirror made it any higher, I wonder if raocow would be willing and try to Netplay it with 3 other talkhausers? Scheduling would be the biggest hurdle though. Last I checked a couple years ago, GBA netplay was terrible . Massive latency, incredibly low framerate, etc. I'm su...

Re: DT3 - raocow dies of laughter
From my observations as a player (so I could be completely wrong) each enemy is assigned a certain coin that appears in their bio and has a chance to drop, but are also rarely able to drop the next tier up of coin. Enemies with no coin can have a rare drop of green coins, enemies with green coins c...

Re: DT3 - raocow dies of laughter
It varies depending on how much difficulty you have with each individual enemy, since all of the challenges feature different ones. For me, today's challenge room was the second-hardest one of all, because those flying bugs are seriously jerks - I think I ended up using the holy water flame to snipe...

Re: DT3 - raocow dies of laughter
Even after getting all the items in the game, I still needed about 30,000 more Internetz to purchase every piece of equipment. It didn't take all that long (you can make about 1,600 a minute by grinding in the right place once you have all the money upgrade items and skills) but considering raocow's...

Re: DT3 - raocow dies of laughter
Mayhaps the "DLC Required" area could contain the Bubble Key later on and tie up both "unavailable" areas at once. It does seem weirdly worrying and out of place, until you get to the end of the gate and the television doesn't mention any items there.

Re: Distorted Travesty 3
To Cirno: The ending currently in the game is what was originally there on launch. Some time before launch, there was an alternate ending made, but I really didn't like it and so it was reverted back to what it is now. Jerry did not survive in either ending, what you did was break stuff via debug m...

Re: JUMP - actually stands for "Jolpe Utterly Made Poop" and maybe "Jolly Upsetting Moving Podoboos"
Quite a few of the hazards in Iso's room seem to be burnable, and you get a fire flower right at the start. Seems to me like it would be a much easier room if you used spinjumps to face left and burn everything ahead of time.

Re: JUMP - stands for "Just Understanding Morsel's Palace"
Powerup filters have legitimate uses, because of how broken the cape and Yoshi can be (especially blue yoshi) and also the fact that there are a lot of obstacles that Yoshi just can't do. It's better to design the level to resist being broken rather than arbitrarily steal the player's tools away, bu...

Re: DT3 - raocow jumps on bubbles
What I ended up doing was intentionally stalling for an extra cycle in the vertical shaft before that room each time. The platforms end up in a MUCH more favorable position when you do that, to the point where I wondered if it was the intended solution. Seems that it probably isn't though. Using the...

Re: DT3 - raocow jumps on bubbles
Just delete the two new sound files from your DT3\Sound folder. In fact, you can probably even replace them with any sound file you want as long as you rename them to the same filenames (haven't tested that theory though)
