Re: Touhou Gouyoku Ibun - Eugene
The official guidelines for fan works explicitly prohibit showing the endings of the games in any context. Gameplay videos are covered under these guidelines as well, so if raocow wishes to comply with them we will not be seeing the endings on his channel. Here's the thing. There are individual end...

Re: Bangai-O - A Hover Attack by Any Other Name
Comments about the story in today's video: Level 14: The "tutorial" is M-ko introducing some irrelevant message from a fan and saying that they were obligated to do so since they were running a campaign. The fan name here is listed in the credits so it might have been something that happen...

Re: Bangai-O - A Hover Attack by Any Other Name
sometimes i wonder why games lack a quick restart function. today's second level is one of those times tbh. i do genuinely wonder if they ran this level by someone who wasn't the level designer bc like i don't know how the average person is expected to really... enjoy a level where softlocking is a...

Re: Celeste: Farewell - Farewell
Not sure if this is a popular opinion or not, but the jellyfish have ended up being my favorite object to interact with in Celeste. Design involving them generally allows for a more freeform approach than you often see in this game/engine, especially when updrafts are involved and you get full contr...

Re: Celeste: Farewell - So long
Congrats on beating Farewell, it's long and hard enough to qualify as a full game in its own right. The final screen of Farewell is by far the most fun design in vanilla Celeste imo, really wish there were more marathon screens like it. There's this great feeling of building tension as you make it f...

Re: All The S@nics - SONIC THE HEDGEHOG (2006) - It Sounds Like Being A Princess Isn't That Easy!
The part in Wave Ocean Very Hard that gave raocow so much trouble slows down on real hardware, letting Sonic get well ahead of the whales. raocow's difficulties seem to have stemmed mostly from emulation.

Re: zwei thread fork it
The reason why the graphics in this game are so good is because Shinkai Makoto (yes, the one you're thinking of) was one of the artists, back when he still worked at Falcom. IMO it looks far better than any other Falcom game before or since; I'm disappointed they never made anything else in a simila...

Re: ASMT 11th Anniversary LP - Hey There Guy
An Echoing Call reminds me of janky IWBTG fangames, which isn't necessarily an indictment of the level's quality. That sort of thing does have its own flavor.

Re: Super Mike World: The Legend Continues
I can only imagine how badly Youtube (and the recording/encoding process in general) would have butchered the Ice World levels back in 2007, what with the snow effect and all. Though I don't actually remember if raocow started out posting things to Youtube. I know his really old videos were posted o...

I hope raocow goes on to play every game that had one of its characters repurposed as a shopkeeper in LM2. Keep this series going for weeks to come!

Re: La-Mulana 2 - flourishing out there in this big stupid world
Naramura has been tweeting some videos of their new game, MEDIUM-NAUT, even; it's made in Action Game Maker MV and seems to have extremely good jumping . My reaction was basically " Medium-Naut, huh? Seems like a strange name for what looks to be setting up as a run and gun game, like... the '...

Re: La-Mulana 2 - flourishing out there in this big stupid world
Just to confirm what was said above, I don't think Naramura/Nigoro have said anything about getting out of games, and they're still actively supporting LM2 and releasing LM series stuff (soundtracks and whatnot). Not really sure where raocow got that information from... while neither LM game was a m...

Re: La-Mulana 2 - the only discop shount in the ruins
how much, like, developer continuity is there between la mulana freeware -> la mulana wiiware -> la mulana 2 Naramura Takumi was responsible for the entirety of the game design/scenario and graphical assets, as well as most of the music, in every entry in the series. The series isn't wholly a one-m...

Re: All The E.G.G.M.E.N. - Adventure 2 - HOW DO YOU LIKE THAT, OBAMA?!
SA2 is a legitimately great game and easily my favorite game in the Sonic series. The level design is surprisingly tight across the board (especially compared to SA1), and the score/ranking system encourages mastery in an organic way. The soundtrack is also incredible from beginning to end; it's eve...

Re: Nachos and Fried Oreos - 6 - Nachos and Fried Oreos
Very cool game overall; the forced 1cc concept is novel for a modern platformer and the way it makes you really consider elements that are largely superfluous in other hacks (namely collecting the dragon coins) makes for an interesting dynamic between player and design. The level design itself was s...

Re: New Super Marisa Land - Squeak for Victory
This was one of raocow's most enjoyable LPs in a while for me, even without the Touhou factor. The game as a whole is super cute, the level design manages to be consistently engaging without going full Kaizo, and the pacing isn't bogged down by superfluous text/cutscenes. Definitely sad to see this ...
