IMO you're overcomplicating things, xnam. Dazzle works fine even on my 5-year-old scarely-upgraded computer, I even recorded a Wii game with it, and there's a good chance your local Best Buy carries it.

Dazzle works fine. Use the free software known as Virtual Dub and you can even toss your TV in the dumpster.
