Re: All the S@nics - Chronicles: the Dark Brotherhood - Lara-Sued
I've been waiting for this. I went back and played this game, beat it in anticipation. The attack and damage are different stats thing really confused me as a kid. Some items increase one while decreasing the other, but damage is a fairly invisible stat and the distinction between attack and damage ...

Re: Tabletop Role Play/Wargame General Discussion Thread
My DM ran an experiment in M&M with giving my character a tool to hack into and control enemy robots. The way controlling people/robots/whatever works is that in order to issue a command, you use a movement action, and then the fulfil it when it's their turn. It sounds super weird on paper to ha...

Re: What games are you playing?
Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass has a thing where when you get one of Jimmy's forms to a specific level, you unlock one of that form's abilities to use with other forms. The game tells you unlocks in advance, so one of the things slowing down my playthrough, despite the fact that I am at the very end ...

Re: A Few Good Somari - Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games - here's that crossover you wanted, brah
I can't believe raocow is so ignorant of the Mario lore; thinking Luigi to be a strange elf is one thing, but calling fan favourite character Stupid Horse "Yoshi" is just insulting.

Re: What's New, Pussycat? - Rush Adventure - What's New, Pussycat? What's New, Pussycat? What's New, Pussycat?
Judging from the way people are talking about the materials gimmick, I'm under the impression that this game has more grinding than the actual rpg.

Re: All the S@nics - Rush Adventure - What's New, Pussycat? What's New, Pussycat?
The ocean charting segment reminds me of Phantom Hourglass, which came out around the same time. Of course, one of the cool things about PH is that there's island that don't appear on the map, and things to do in the ocean. Hopefully in Rush Adventure the ocean does more than just fill space.

Re: What games are you playing?
So I wandered into a optional late game boss in Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass . I was able to perform a setup I was working on but would keep botching. Good news; the boss went down it one hit. Bad news; I kind of wanted to know what the boss did. Clearing out the nightmare zones and their bosses sho...

Re: What games are you playing?
I think I'm pretty much at the end of Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass . Right at the end, the game opens up a lot. I could go and fight the final boss, but I've decided to run around and get my face bashed in by super bosses I'm probably not supposed to fight until the post game. Running around in the ...

Re: Mega Man X DiVE - Capcom's Gacha Covered
The menu music is pretty much the opposite of what I think of when I think of mega man x and it's sequels. I know this can be inevitable with cross over games, but the difference in appearance between character from different series is a bit jarring, especially with regards to how faces are drawn. R...

Re: What games are you playing?
I made some more time to play Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass . The main gimmick is that the main character, Jimmy, can swap forms which shuffles around his stats and abilities. I took this for granted at first, but now I realise this is a big deal because the game like to forcibly switch around your o...

Re: Tabletop Role Play/Wargame General Discussion Thread
I've played more Mutants and Masterminds and have a few more opinions on the game. The way stats are set up is fantastic; you have the six "dnd stats", plus "fighting" which is used exclusively for close range combat, and "dexterity" which is used exclusively for ranged...

Re: What games are you playing?
I've decided that Jimmy and the Pulsating Mass will be the game I'll be playing primarily for a bit. I have some compliments for the battles system. Fist the 'startled' condition isn't as annoying as it could be. It's the equivalent of flinching in pokemon, but a character becomes immune to it for 1...

Re: What games are you playing?
Attempted to play X-COM UFO Defense , I got zero successful ufo crash landings and then lost almost all of my squad in the first terror mission. The UFO Defense instruction booklet is called the "Player's Handbook" which makes me think of a ttrpg; and much like a ttrpg player's handbook, i...

Re: All the S@nics - Secret Rings - Seven Rings? In ONE Hand?
It looks really unnatural how the the race level here requires standing around for certain obstacles. I would make it more about just going. I will applaud how the diehard challenge was generous with rings and gave plenty of chances to score bonus rings, at least that way you can focus more on avoid...

Re: What games are you playing?
Some time back I think I said I was going to get every achievement in the steam version of Terraria. I've started doing that with the achievements that were added in 1.4 using a world and character from 1.3. I did not expect that obtaining the terraspark boots, an item required for an achievement, w...

I spent more time trying to read the stream overlay than paying attention to what was going on. From what I have gathered, chat has accused Calleoca of being a gacha whale.

Re: Tabletop Role Play/Wargame General Discussion Thread
One of my old DMs called me up and asked me if I would be interested in playing Mutants and Masterminds (3e), a superhero RPG. We just recently started the campaign. MnM uses a point buy system for character creation. It looks like a really intimidating because it has a butt load of character option...

So as it turns out, burning huge swaths of money is part of the Government plan to lure out dissidents. Here I was going to applaud them on their unorthodox way of fighting inflation.

Re: A 2nd X Thing Gaiden 2 - Now Even MORE Festive!
The subway reminded me of taking the DELF exam. One of the audio recordings for listening comprehension is of a busy subway station that sounds like it was recorded using some kind of vegetable. It's the hardest part, not because of complex vocabulary, but because you can barely hear the thing. I ca...

Re: Something The Hodgepodge - the gimmick is in the thread op this time
So I had the strangest feeling that I had seen something Jazz Jackrabbit adjacent before. Nope, I was thinking of Bucky O'Hare; "green lagomorph wearing red with a gun in space" was just one of those oddly specific things that a few different people developed independently, like calculus. ...
