Re: What games are you playing?

I recently finished Brutal Legend's single player mode. Major highlight of the game is when a BDSM demon lord with the voice of Tim Curry takes a break from slaughtering the armies of man by rocking out on his four necked guitar in order to deliver the "your mom" of the decade. Reading up on the gam...

Re: Have you ever beaten Super Mario Bros. all the way through "legit"?

Never beaten SMB. The thing that screws me over is percision platforming required in the later stages. In SMB Mario is the inertia man its hard to get him up to speed, and its hard to get him to stop. In all the later games Mario gains and loses speed much faster. Since spinning became standard in N...

Re: Super Mario 63 - A Lanthanide Flash Game

I expected Boo's Mansion to use the music from Big Boo's Haunt because... it is Big Boo's Haunt. I'm pleasantly surprised that it went with the music form Ghostly Galaxy; I find that track a lot nicer on the ears.

Bowser certainly is verbose today.

Yeah but wasn't this made well before that was even a thing? :ehh:
This is why I'm putting my money on "Peach" being Luigi; Superstar Saga was in 2003.

Re: Super Mario 63 - Messier Flash Game At Magnitude 8.5

In SM64, 70 stars are required to beat the game. Any of the game's 120 stars can be gathered giving the player a lot of choice in how they want to go about playing the game. (In my first run I did not realise Big Boo's Haunt existed.) This is the standard that most "star get 3D Marios" have. However...

Re: What games are you playing?

My Co-Worker bought me Terraria recently, and I'm really enjoying it! I'm still learning the ropes around it, but it's still pretty fun! I got Terraria years ago when a friend of mine bought a four pack for cheap during a Steam sale. It's possibly my favourite game that I have on Steam. One day I p...

Re: Super Mario 63 - Sum Of The Powers Of 0 To Flash

The cursed key only sends Mario about two kilometers away. What qualifies for a curse these days is terrible. Back in my day, it would have teleported him to another continent, set him on fire, turn him inside out, and put Lego in his shoes. Looking at it, this is just more proof Bowser secretly wan...

Re: Super Mario 63 - A Woodall Flash Game at 4

I played very little of this game years ago, so I'm excited to see the rest of it. I like how the game takes inspiration from SM64DS, which people usually forget had some original stuff.

Re: All The S@nics - Spinball - Going Full Tilt

This was a game I played with my cousins as a kid. The Genesis was before our time but there happened to be one in their attic. My guess is that my uncle bought it on impulse at a yard sale. So while talking to my aunt a few months ago, I remembered that we had played this game, so I asked her if th...

Re: Kaizo Contest Xtraordinaire (24 Hours Remain!)

It's intended that you start my level as small Mario (or a costume) but I forgot to include any code that forces this. Will this cause any problems, or should I reupload with a fix?

Re: All The S@nics - SegaSonic the Hedgehog - Watch out! You're gonna crash! Ahh!

Sonic's wacky dying/taking damage animations are giving be Crash Bandicoot vibes. Which probably isn't appropriate to say as the game predates Crash.

Re: A Mario X Collab Adventure

I'd be interested in helping, not sure how useful I'd be.
The problem at the moment is deciding if it makes sense to wait for SMBX2b4, or use an earlier version.

Re: JUMP ½ - Half a jump is still a jump

I finished watching the LP a few days ago. "you were holding an umbrella" has to be one of the most visually unique and striking SMW levels I've seen. RNG is an amazing concept for a level, I have some ideas on how it could be expanded it I ever participate in a colab like this.

My dad had one of those, he swore by it, and claimed all non-trackball mice were inferior.

Re: All The S@nics - CD - ...The Problem's Chronic!

I think the NA boss theme would have worked perfectly well if it only played in the bad future. In the good future, the eerie dissonant sound just doesn't work with the bright colours.

Re: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - SM64: Last Impact

While I think Cackletta's Soul looks kinda meh just being a purple cloud thing, wow I will not say the same for her attacks. The time stop lasers take the cake for the coolest attacks in the game. I like the look of Wendy's energy rings as well. Bowser seems to have a giant lightning storm brewing i...

Re: All The S@nics - CD - ...The Problem's Chronic!

At first I thought that Robotnik swapping out woodland creatures for plant seeds in his killer robots was kinda lame, but from a technology standpoint it's way more impressive and probably more efficient.

Re: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - The Variety Of Chance

Throughout the game there's all theses images of smiles (the Hooniversity, the chuckola tree sanctum, the buildings in Beanbean town etc), so it's cool to see the dungeon at the beginning of the last stretch of the game do a total 180 with grimaces instead, no doubt from all those bad jokes. I reall...

Re: Mario & Luigi: Superstar Saga - 8 Powers

The Hermie fight is actually kind of tedious if you're not glass-cannoning it? Basically, the move you didn't see was him hiding in his shell after his claws are bandaged. There, he heals for a stupid amount of health, sometimes for multiple turns, before reappearing with healed claws. It's really ...
