Re: Fixed and Translated hacks

Sorry about the late reply, I've been a bit preoccupied the last couple days. Notes about Skye's observations: You're entirely right about the spelling mistakes of course. I guess I always read so quickly that I miss stuff like that. 'Spec' might be because I use that word as meaning 'specification'...

Re: Fixed and Translated hacks

UPDATE: S Mario is now translated and fixed. I'm really sorry for bumping this thread again because of ASPE, but shouldn't (^ ω ^)Horse lololol have a translation note mentioning how Yoshi is sometimes degradingly referred to as "Detteiu" by some Japanese Mario fans, and how "Detteiu&...

Re: Fixed and Translated hacks

That sound glitch is not the gunshot sound that I was referring to. It's kind of hard to make out since the audio in that recording seems a bit jittery in general, but the one point you linked when going to the special world seems like it's what was playing when you hit the goal tape on the 'Hope Yo...

Re: Fixed and Translated hacks

Thanks for your report. However, it's likely that what you're hearing isn't what the fix note refers to. Is it a really loud noise that could be compared to something like a gunshot or dropping a hammer on a metal floor? If you mean you hear what sounds like remnants of the echo from a previously pl...

Re: Fixed and Translated hacks

Most likely it's objecting to the file 'asar.exe'. Comments on that piece of software on SMWC seem to have been mentioning virus false positives in the past couple months. For what it's worth I can assure you we didn't put anything harmful in there, so it's probably just the anti-malware software fr...

Re: VIP6 - Japanese airspace

The reason we didn't put the title as 'Imperisable Night' is because the level name wasn't strictly speaking the name of the Touhou game of that name, since it was a phrase in Japanese (永久の夜 "eikyu no yoru"), while the Japanese title of that game means something different (something like '...

Re: VIP6 - Chikuma

edit: now i'm trying to figure if you could theoretically do both methods at the same time, assuming you can pick any reordering of numbers 1-10 to start with. "I" can luckily work for 1 pretty handily as a roman numeral, 2 can be "do," or if that's not convincing, "bi"...

Re: VIP6 - Okinawa

31 - a.b.a: No idea. This one is a bit of a stretch but I'm guessing it refers to the robot character A.B.A from Guilty Gear whose gimmick is that she keeps a key-shaped relic as a spouse. It would fit because the joke in the message box implies that the writer of the message has had relations with...

Re: VIP6 - Chikuma

The numbers puzzle in Japanese used a sort of mnemonic system known as 'goro awase', which can be used to represent a multi-digit number as a more easy to remember language phrase. Basically, each number can be represented by the first one or two syllables of one of its names. By 'names' I'm referri...

Re: VIP6 - Oita

Speaking of that smasher room, how does that work? What does that look like in Lunar Magic? My best guess is the layer quickly scrolls horizontally a bit each time it goes above screen Pretty much. Each screen width has one of the smasher configurations on layer 2, and presumably it invisibly shift...

Re: VIP6 - Tochigi

As far as I know the lyrics weren't actually changed. Somebody just heard the original ones and said "heh, that sounds like it's about a penis", and somewhere down the line in Japan was born some ASCII art of a veiny one popping out of the side of briefs with the lyrics "Edelweiss, Ed...

Re: VIP6 - Iwate

Solely on the gamble that this LP will take exactly 46 videos + preshow.
It'll be somewhere in that ballpark, and although it's somewhat of a long shot, I'll feel very satisfied if it manages to happen.

Also any other ideas I came up with in the time I had felt too obscure.

Re: Fixed and Translated hacks

Your ROM appears to be an SFC file. SNES roms come in the flavors of SFC and SMC, which are commonly (though not necessarily) distinguished by SMC files having a useless 512 ($200 hex) byte header, while SFC don't. Asar seems to assume that this rule is true, while I suspect your file does in fact h...

Re: Fixed and Translated hacks

I've updated the VIP6 download to contain an asm file that will apply all of the relevant patches as a fallback in case the batch file fails, with a relevant change to the instructions. The effects of the patches themselves have not been altered.

Re: Fixed and Translated hacks

Sorry about the problems. I've sent you a PM for a temporary solution. It sounds like an operating system environment quirk that I'm not aware of, considering it's been tested to work for several other people. If anybody else has this problem or has an idea about what may be causing it, please let m...

Re: Fixed and Translated hacks

Are you sure that the .smc file is in the same folder as the batch file, that it's the VIP6 rom, and that you're entering it with the file extension (example: mix6_AAE.smc)? If so, does it give any error message before it closes? EDIT: only thing I can think of off the bat if it closes as soon as yo...

Re: Fixed and Translated hacks

VIP6 demo translation has been uploaded. The process to patch is slightly different this time. Out of respect for the hack still being in development there is no BPS; it's just ASM patches. A batch file is included so that all you have to do is get the actual IPS/BPS file (links in the instructions)...

VIP6 - VIP

(´・ω・`) [framing_device] Now, historians are somewhat divided on the question of when exactly the Fourth Golden Age of VIP during the reign of the House of raocow started. One thing that is indisputable is that it was in full swing by the time that raocow V finished his performance of the watershed ...

Re: Fixed and Translated hacks

New hack: Something Extra is now fixed, translated, and up.

We've reworked the optional patch system to be more user-friendly by using a batch file rather than rooting around in an ASM file.
If you've been using the optional patches then please check the readme for more information.
