i actually dont really like 4 much because of how weirdly rude its difficulty is outside of us-snes and jp-easytype. 5 is where the mainline series started peaking for me, and 4 us was my first one btw. i like its advances in jrpg storytelling though

ff3 pr also just has a checkpoint in crystal tower so, it's already quite better. i wouldn't be shocked if it has temporary quicksaves as well

true, though i kinda like the gba/psp remakes myself (need to beat the ds 3 and 4 remakes) and i also just find playing on an snes emulator to be cozy (also nes with chaos rush's modernized script patches for 1 and 3 at least, unsung hero)

now that the pixel remasters have actual pixel fonts for latin alphabet they're basically the ideal way to experience the NES and SNES FFs short of getting an actual console hooked up to a CRT

The Pixel Remasters look fine, visually... but those iOS ports of FF5 and 6 are hideous. So many clashing art styles...

all of square's ff sprite "remasters" suck ass. they're either shittyfiltered or drawnoverashittyfiltered

the fucked up part is that the ios port sprites don't even look too bad if they're in native res, they're a bit too rpg maker with the colors, but their use of ff6 sprites and ff7 models' chibi anatomy makes them work. they're basically diet psp

kazuko shibuya is my beloved but she got a bit sloppy in the pixel remaster sprite department. i know she was emulating crt pixel blending but it feels messy. same with the ios remakes' smoothening. they did NOT need anti-aliasing
