Either way, I remember a thing about a forum site I used to be on that might be applicable here. There was a General Chat board there that's much like "the rest": discussion threads, listing threads, threads congratulating people, asking opinions, whatever. The subforum inside it was the forum games section, which were set not to increase post count, or not even to show up in the most recent posts.

It sounds like it'd be an adequate solution for this, yeah? It won't get rid of ALL the threads that seem postcount++ from the main mix (Random Thoughts and things like that would stay in the main forum), but that's fine. The main point is to section off the forum games so that others don't have to sift through them.

I agree. Although I don't mind the postcount++, it isn't the most important thing in life.
So moving it to another place where those who don't care won't be bothered about it seems nice.

Easiest thing would be to remove where it displays on the viewtopic and profile template pages, you can't really take it out all together though and there might be a few other places where it would still show up.

Half the battle should be done in theory - for the time being I've frozen all post counts... so everyone should be stuck where they are!
