Re: SMBX Community Contest 8
Maybe we should host our own Contest and allow LunaDll in it no offense of course but you know.
Welp i still haven't send my level yet but the time until the deadline is still a whole month.

Re: SMBX Community Contest 8 (DONE)
So umm yeah... That went okay. 28th place is okay, I suppose, for my first SMBX contest.
Fufufu, I have now collected all the information necessary to know what SMBX forum likes, victory is assured.

I dunno, I guess it's my background doing dumb poorly-coded ASM stuff in SMW but that thread legitimately gives me a headache. If it's that big a deal why not just do it like SMWC, have contests that do and do not allow it? They have contests often enough as it is, they could just alternate and even in the case of the people who'd inevitably not enter the LunaDLL contests because they think LunaDLL's some kind of instant-win button it wouldn't kill them to wait another 3 months between contests.Half the people in the contest thread wrote:Oh no those of us who learn to do cool stuff to the engine can do cool stuff to the engine let's ban it from all contests forever
(I would go post this in the thread in question but I'm not a member of the SMBX forums, nor do I see any reason to be.)

Good thing that A2XT is here soon, to show them what it can do.
Re: SMBX Community Contest 8 (DONE)
I guess Mabel said all there
And sincerely I don't even know why this "I don't want Luna.DLL" when SMBX 1.3.0.2 will arrive soon
Also I just finished my level fo the next contest

Re: SMBX Community Contest 8 (DONE)
I don't think they should ever add it to their contests. It doesn't even mesh well with their level design style which is to make standard SMB3 style levels. You don't need lunadll for that.
DON'T PM me. Ask your question in the help thread so everyone can be answered.

Re: SMBX Community Contest 8 (DONE)
Alright now that's bullshit.
Yes. we tend to use smb3 a LOT.
but we also can make good smb2, smw and smb1 levels.
For example a smb2 level reached 2nd place in one of our contests.
also we don't ALWAYS make smb3 styled levels.
we use smb3's colors because they look pretty in our opinion.
but you can't go all sarcasm mcannoyngpants.
i don't get why we can' t cooperate.
and yes, the smbx community is filled with brats and smb3 fanboys, but there are quite a bunch of users that are worth looking at.
smbx is to "make your own mario styled levels" that's why all the levels we make look like generic mario levels, and.. that's it.
our levels may not be original.
we may don't like clash (wich also only the newbies and non experienced smbx users use clash as an excuse of a bad level).
the smbx community is bad, really bad, i admit. actually we all admitted that, most smbx users are leaving the forums because of all this crap that is going on.
now think, do you want this?
i know i shouldn't talk, since i'm the forgotten user of the community, i'm not popular or important in the first place, but please, read these stupid opinions that i just typed.
please.

Re: SMBX Community Contest 8 (DONE)
Leet was joking there, Dark. I mean come on, haha
Like, this is a pretty jokey community, and like 75% of posts can be discarded as just wanted to be funny about a situation. It was already established that 'the longstanding smbx community' and 'talkhaus' look for very very different things (though this doesn't mean anything, I just mean the... the 'stereotype', so to speak).
Honestly, I just think that some pillars of the smbx are just afraid of change after using sbmx for so many years and I honestly believe that a little part of them are afraid of getting 'upstaged' or something just as stupid.
But I mean, it's their loss. a2xt is going to be released in what, a month or so ? We'll see what effect that will have then.

pretty much haha they keep getting sooner and sooner. well this one, i know in advanced so there's a good chance i'll participate for once, good luck ;)Fluffi-dono wrote:Another one... so soon...?Luigifan2010 wrote:CC9 is expected to take place in september, they're trying to get me to be a level judge for it

i see where you're coming from with this, it's not necessarily that I'm afraid of lunadll but i'm worried more for new users. i'm sure its not hard to master but it can be very confusing, i'm thinking of a younger self looking at some of the lunadll stuff and thinking to myself "wow this would be confusing as fuck to a 12 year old".raocow wrote:Honestly, I just think that some pillars of the smbx are just afraid of change after using sbmx for so many years and I honestly believe that a little part of them are afraid of getting 'upstaged' or something just as stupid.
but then the argument of "a truly good level designer would be able to outdo a lunadll". that's true and again, i see where (mabel) was coming from there on the forum (but he didn't have to say it so rudely jesus), depending on who the judges are they could easily be biased towards lunadll levels or something like that.
i just think its too soon, we don't even have that many lunadll levels on the forum in the first place and afaik only one major lunadll graphics pack.
my thoughts: wait until cc10 when at that time, 1.3.0.2 (i never even knew about this till recent) will be released and its more widespread and people have more experience with it

No one is obligated to use LunaDLL, neither does it provide an advantage. So I don't really why it should not be allowed...

thank you thank you B)BTW good luck to you as well, Mr. Luigifan2010 :)
im not entirely sure what's capable with lunadll but someone whos a real whiz at it could do some amazing things im sure.Fluffi-dono wrote:No one is obligated to use LunaDLL, neither does it provide an advantage. So I don't really why it should not be allowed...
another thing is that it apparently doesn't run for everyone.
basically i just think it should be put off till the next contest like I said previously, by that time I'm sure all the bugs will be squashed and it'll run on most pc's and more people will have had experience with it.
