Thread subscription help

I've run into a slight problem using the thread subscription thing to track what i'm interested in reading. I get email reminders about when there are new posts in those threads, but I can't figure out how to turn that off. Any suggestions on what to do? Am I just misunderstanding what subscribe to topic means?

Am I missing something on my manage subscriptions page? There's nothing about turning off the emails.

Ah ha! I found the actual method of subscribing without the email spam; bookmarks. Guess I was just used to my usual forum and figured that they'd work the same.
