Wanted to throw this up before I forget most of it.

The SMBX Ultimate CGFX Pack Version 4
They're taking submissions ATM, but when it comes out, this may be valueable for A2MBXT.

NPC/Effect List
This might be useful for people looking a certain graphic, for custom graphics.

SMBX NPC Editor
I could never get this to work. It's a GUI for making npc-xx.txt files.

Assorted level music
A bunch of random music, a combination of stuff I never used for ASMBXT, and stuff I found afterwards. I have a few more I need to put up there.

So I thought I posted this in a general game dev resources thread before but it was just game design articles and discussion.

I have a list of general indie dev resources on my website. Most of them aren't specifically related to SMBX development so they won't apply to A2XT, but the art, sound and writing sections are relevant relevant regardless of what engine you're using so *shrug*

If we're looking at general game design tips, Egoraptor's Sequelitis videos do a great job of explaining certain concepts and pitfalls. There are some really nice tilesets and other graphics on open game art. You can see the copyright information on the left side of the page for each one.

Here is example of one that is not copyrighted. Made by surt, Sharm and vk.

Oooh, thanks Wilhart! Some of that exact picture is just what one of my levels needed, and I had some pretty big trouble trying (unsuccessfully) to find something like that.

Here is most of the previous tileset cut into small tiles and masks. Nothing is assigned, but it should be easy to pick and rename some of them for use.

Having had it pointed out to me that the back end of the glitched sprite is actually a fish's face I reckon it'd be more ASMT to have the thing's back end encased in a fish head/dragging itself out of the fish's mouth/etc.

Level Timer
If you want a level timer but don't want the full SMB3 overhaul mod, this is for you! (I actually made the original level timer, but XerX eventually forked mine, modified it, pushed it, and then merged it into his overhaul).



This is an API script, so make sure this goes in your LuaScriptsLib folder!

Usage
1. Import it

Code: Select all

2. Override the onLoad()

This sets the timer to 300 and enables it.

The graphic is the rainbow bullet bill from the graphics pack. Enjoy!~

EDIT : Just so you know, this is the best I can do. I am unable to alter the speedX value of the bullet bill as it is even beyond LunaLua's abilities to overwrite it. It seems to be set to a static 4.
