It's probably mostly the intrument change (don't know anything about minor major fancy smanchy), it doesn't sound as flat or empty as the first version imo, a definite improvement.

Yeah, ending like that is a nice touch. Combine it with the instruments of Doctor Shemp's and it goes really well with his death sound too.

We should still hold onto this piano version; someone could use it in a piano music-themed level. Potentially.

Well if LukaRamu can give me a MIDI of his version then I'll convert it to SNES sounds to see how it goes.

I checked in the STTB files and it turns out there's no hardcoded limits on sound length or bitrate, only practical ones. So the fact that this is slightly longer is no problem at all and I moved the bitrate up to 192. I think it sounds pretty good like this and better than my earlier one.

Hi guys, if you need or want any 8-bit music for ASMBXT let me know, I picked up Famitracker march this year and am learning it inside and out, so I am offering my services as a chiptune musician. I'm happy to do anything - originals, covers, remixes, extending songs I've already made, boss music, jingles, whatevs.

Hi, I'm a bit new to these forums, but I figured I'd get right up and say that I'd like to work on music for this here collaboration! I'm a composer of original music and I'd like to stretch those composing muscles for a project for once.

I don't have much of a portfolio put together at the moment, but I figured it would be good to introduce myself now and get synchronized with what's going on.

I figure I'll share some pieces I've made so I can at least seem credible in my claims:

Hope you guys enjoy enough!

I still think it sound really underwhelming and not nearly triumphant enough for a end of level fanfare.

Well I could cover it in trumpets and timpanis and generally go Phil Spector on it but that would wreck the SNES aesthetic.

If you or someone else can do better with the source material then that's great, do it and show us.

Does anybody know if this song would fall under YouTube's list of songs you can't use?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZpuROwy_8mg

I know Chopin is in the public domain - but do you think that the pianist would prevent their playing being used? I could go and find another version - it's just that I really like this one.
The first thing I would do with infinite power would be to make myself a cave where I could look at my shadow forever.

Image <- Go team Yeah Doctor Shemp.!
Image <- That's everyone being nice to me. ^^

I made a game called Utter Confusion! Play it! :D
It's a lot of fun and has been incredibly popular at every indie game dev party I've brought it to.

You could use this one from the Piano Society:
http://server3.pianosociety.com/protect ... toglio.mp3

All of the recordings they host are public domain, but with classical music... I know of a case that some LPer bought a license to use a recording of "Night on Bald Mountain" by Mussorsky and some company that had a different recording in YouTube's ContentID said that he didn't have a license so... Personally, if you used that recording I posted you would be fine, but it's not 100% safe so I would prefer not to use it.

If it's on Youtube already then it obviously doesn't set off the Content ID system. You're fine.

God damn it - of course I had to receive mixed messages. I do genuinely prefer the version I originally had, I just don't want to basically make the decision to use potentially hazardous music on the LP'er behalf.

But, the recording LukaRamu linked me to - it's pretty good, but I think it feels a bit aggressive (I know the history behind the song)... :sigh:

There comes a point where safety impedes expression, and I'm not sure if I'm at that point.

Dude, the recording you want to use is on Youtube already. It's not going to set off the Content ID system if raocow uses it.

If someone else is worried about Content ID, just try uploading the song to Youtube, have a few people watch it, and wait a few minutes.

I finished a sweet chiptune funk/swing song today, it might be good for a wasteland or desert or slum level with modifications (slowing it down a bit?, editing so it loops, ...)

He guys, I'd like some opinions. Which version of the song is better, this, or this? I'm thinking of going with #2, but I'd like some thoughts from other people.

I'd say #2 as well, it has more depth and is a bit more interesting to listen to. Also fits a pixelly game better.

Ooh, ooh, I like that a lot!

I'm not sure if you were going to make a level with that or not, but if you're not I'd like to use that probably.

Anybody know the source of the music in Drama Mistery (specifically, the 1-1 tune that's featured in a lot of the grassland levels)? Or a way to convert the snes track into an mp3?

You could try listening to it in an SPC player and then recording that output from your audio mix with something like goldwave or any program that can catch your audio output.

Not quite... I think? It's the one you can here in the first level in this video. That is if you can hear it over some yahoo's inane chatter.
