Re: Longest things you've ever done
During my time with a night shift occupation, the longest I'd ever spent awake was approximately 40-42 hours due to the holiday shenanigans keeping me awake and excited.
I guess I haven't died yet but that's not really something to brag about.

I've slept for a solid 24 hours once. Does that count?

Re: Longest things you've ever done
Ran: 9 miles (was training for a marathon, got injured slightly after that, haven't broken my personal best since)
Slept: 4 days (as a child, was very unwell!)
Awake: ~40 hours. (happens often)
Driving in car: 15 hours (Every Saturday. Not single segment!)
Writing: ~16 hours (Final thesis for undergrad. Day/night before due date. Code project I'd spent months on didn't work until 2 days before that!)
Longest thing written: 141 pages (phd thesis, so far)
Walking without rest: ~6 hours (hiking through Macgillycuddy's Reeks and up Carrauntoohil in heavy rain, then snow)
Getting a haircut, not including waiting: Freakin 1 hour (guy wouldn't stop talking to the other barber!)
LP recording session: 3 hours 50 minutes.

Re: Longest things you've ever done
I seriously don't know how you people manage that. I do MAYBE two miles every other day, and it's not nonstop running since it's HIIT. That little bit kills me for most of the day.QubicTom wrote:Ran: 9 miles (was training for a marathon, got injured slightly after that, haven't broken my personal best since)

Re: Longest things you've ever done
You probably run much faster than I do - the 9 miles took me nearly an hour and a half! You need to go at a pace you can survive and follow a training schedule, one that adds an extra mile or so each week. Look up any local marathon and they'll have a beginner's guide on their website :DTruhan wrote:I seriously don't know how you people manage that. Also, keep in mind that the first mile or two usually feel the worst. After that it becomes what running is truly about - will power! (or not getting so bored that you stop!)
Re: Longest things you've ever done
By my calculations, we have about the same pace (my mile and a half time is roughly 12:30, my two miles is about 18 minutes). I'm not training for distance though. As a wise Bakemonogatari waifu once said, "The strategy for running one mile as fast as possible is completely different from the strategy to run 100 feet as fast as possible." Or something. Anyways, the point is I'm training to keep doing a mile and a half in under 13 minutes consistently. I do it HIIT style just because the gains I got were noticed immediately. Not just speed either, my stamina and breathing have improved drastically and my heart rate gets as low as 50 beats per minute. That's with awful genetics too.QubicTom wrote:You probably run much faster than I do - the 9 miles took me nearly an hour and a half! Edit: Oh, I don't wear running clothes either. Does that matter? I wear some jeans, a shirt, a sweathoodie (of course I wore it in the summer too), and a hydration pack. I do use running shoes though.

Re: Longest things you've ever done
The longest then I've ever done? Well I'm still living.
Also, I'd say I've printed enough drawings to create a carpet of paper that stretches 2 miles.

Longest bike ride was 13 miles. It was for a competition. We were supposed to guess how long we were going to take to finish; I guessed an hour, but finished in 59:53. Took first in my division. :D

Re: Longest things you've ever done
I do have a persistent cough at the moment, actually (I often get them after colds), but the half-a-year one was a couple of years ago.metasomnia? wrote:Whoa. That must have sucked.elga wrote:For me it's about half a yearmetasomnia? wrote:Longest time with a persistent cough: About 44 days

Only thing I can think of at the moment is a 50 mile bike ride after not riding a bike for about a year and a half.
